Our National Conversation

We are a group of journalists, students, established professionals and everyday citizens who want to reduce toxic partisanship and get America talking again. Our focus is on problem-solving, not finger-pointing.

Everyone is welcome here, provided they treat each other with respect and follow our journalistic guidelines (no personal attacks, no bad language, no name-calling, no misinformation, etc.). Those are the rules that apply to OUR writers; we can\'t control everything that comes in over the wire via our news aggregator. All day long, our news aggregator will pick up and post news items from outside sources. We think it\'s important that people see, hear and understand different points of view. We think our \"show all sides\" philosophy is a good thing. We don\'t include all sources; some require too much fact-checking to make it worth the time required. The best way to make sure we provide a good mix of news stories is to pull content from good sources. If you think we\'ve left out a good source, let us know. Send an email to editor@ournationalconversation.org. We don\'t expect you to agree with all the different points of view you find at ONC -- hell, we\'re Americans -- and if you don\'t agree, we encourage you to post your own point of view so others can be exposed to a fuller range of news and opinion. What really excites us is ONC\'s focus on public policy solutions. Plus our students -- America\'s future leaders. For the last three years, a small army of students from across America has been researching public policy challenges facing America. Young people are inheriting a very challenging world. Our student volunteers were asked by our established professionals (read: older advisors) to talk to experts from across the political spectrum. Before proposing anything, they had to talk to liberal, moderate and conservative experts. You will find much of our students\' work in our OPINIONS and PROPOSALS sections.
