August Wynne Jr envisioned a community ahead of its time when he transformed farmland into what is today Oak Cliff and Wynnewood. Among the winding streets, he planned a shopping center to serve the community and provide for their grocery, retail and entertainment needs all in one place that was close to home. The open-air Wynnewood launched with 17 stores. Shaded by live oaks, it became a favorite of locals and visitors alike. It quickly grew to cover 59 acres with over 100 stores, becoming one of Dallas\'s first and largest shopping centers.
